Glitter AI vs. Scribe

When it comes to delegating effectively, the right tool can make all the difference. In this post, I'll share why, in my opinion, Glitter AI is the best tool for creating process documentation if you're a founder or manager, and how it helps you free up time and take back control.

Why I built Glitter AI

I built Glitter AI for founders and managers who wear many hats. If that's you, I'm sure that at some point, you've felt the weight of trying to do too much yourself.

I know firsthand that this sort of pressure can be overwhelming, and the anxiety of not knowing if things will get done right makes it even worse.

That's why it's so important to learn how to delegate.

But delegation only works if you have the right tools to make it seamless. After trying a bunch of solutions, I found that existing tools (like Scribe) didn't meet my needs.

So I created Glitter AI—an AI-native way to create process documentation that makes it easy for people who wear many hats to delegate with confidence.

In this post, I'll share how Glitter AI stands out from Scribe and how you can use it to start delegating and take back control.

1. AI Speech-to-Text

To delegate well with documentation, you need to communicate clearly. Process docs are 10x more helpful if you explain why someone should do something, not just how.

I've seen this firsthand with my sales reps over at my first startup, Simpo. I showed them how to fill out lead details in Salesforce, but they didn't adopt the process until they understood why it was important.

Glitter AI lets you add content to your guide by simply by talking out loud as you record – just like you would explain it to someone next to you in real life.

Talk as you recordWith Glitter AI, you just *talk* to write your content

❌ With Scribe: Manually Add Content After the Fact

Scribe does not support adding context while recording a "Scribe" (a guide). To add information to a guide, you must do so after the fact:

Scribe has this multi-step (and, in my opinion, unnatural) process to add content:

  1. First, record the process by using their recorder.

  2. Next, wait on the guide to finish uploading and processing.

  3. Then, you need to go to the guide and create a "page" (more on that later).

  4. In the page, you add content based on what you remember that you clicked on.

As a consequence, guide creation becomes a cumbersome process where you have to repeat your work: once to record, and again, to try to remember why you did what you did, and when, in order to add context to the guide.

✅ With Glitter AI: It's Easy! Just Talk Out Loud While You Record

With Glitter AI, you simply explain out loud what you're doing as you click through to record your process. Within seconds, Glitter AI transcribes what you say and auto-generates perfect paragraphs that accompany the screenshots in your guide.

With Glitter AI, you can speak your thoughts aloud as you click through each step. And that is literally all you have to do.

Everything you say automatically gets transcribed, then it goes through ChatGPT, so any "ums," "oopses," and "neverminds" are taken out automatically. You end up with a fully written article with no extra work needed (but of course, you can easily edit everything).

One single step – that's it!

(By the way, you can speak in 56 languages, and Glitter AI will offer to either translate to English for you or write in your original language. Crazy stuff! 😍)

2. Editing Experience

Edit like it's a Google docWith Glitter AI, your actual guide is like a Google doc - and editing is super easy.
Create a Guide

❌ With Scribe: Disjointed "Pages" Feature – an Afterthought

In Scribe, you don't add context to the guide itself.

Instead, to add context to your guide, you must use a separate feature called "Pages."

To explain your steps, you first need to create a separate doc called a "Page" that references the original guide.

This creates a disjointed process that makes it harder to create guides, and more confusing to the reader, since the context does not accompany the steps in the guide:

What I mean is this:

Even after you add content to the page, it does not live alongside the steps.

Pages "link" to Scribes, so it creates a difficult viewing experience where the reader has to keep switching back and forth between a "page" and a "scribe."

It's a pretty disjointed process. My guess is that it's disjointed because Scribe added this feature as an afterthought to the original Scribe recorder – years after launch.

Super weird workflow, in my humble opinion. 🤷‍♀️

✅ With Glitter AI: Content Lives Right Alongside the Steps

With Glitter AI, everything lives in one unified interface that looks and edits like a Google doc.

Not only is your guide richer in content (because Glitter AI listens to what you say out loud when you create the guide), your guide flows way better – because all of the information lives right along the steps themselves.

Because Glitter AI writes your guide for you based on what you say out loud, it knows where in the guide to add context.

For example: if you explain step #7 out loud, Glitter AI shows the explanation about step #7 right next to the screenshot.

So your guide is not just fast to create – it's super easy to understand.

And since everything uses a familiar interface (did I say Google docs?), it's easy to add steps and content. You do it all inline :)

3. Desktop App Access

Desktop App is FreeWith Glitter AI, you can record your workflow on desktop *and* your browser.

Both Glitter AI and Scribe offer both a browser extension and a desktop app, but Scribe gates the desktop app to higher-tier plans only.

I disagree with this approach.

As CEO, I often spend time not only in web-based software, but also in apps like Excel, Photoshop, Zoom, and more – apps that get installed on the computer, not the browser.

As a consequence, a Chrome extension is not enough.

If I want to try out software to create process documentation, I shouldn't be forced to pay before I can see what my full workflow looks like.

❌ With Scribe: Desktop App Only on Higher-Tier Plans

As I mentioned, Scribe also has a desktop app, but it is only accessible on one of their higher-tier plans. So even if you just want to try it out, you have to pay.

If you're using their free plan, you're limited to recording within your browser.

I found this limitation frustrating, because just to try to document a desktop application, I had to go with an expensive paid plan, which might not be feasible for everyone—especially if you're watching your budget.

Not only this, but I ran into a weird limitation when I tried out their desktop app: it couldn't detect any text inside of the browser.

My workflow included moving between Excel and QuickBooks Online, and I couldn't properly document it because all the steps I did in QuickBooks Online just showed up as "Click here" in their screenshots.

✅ With Glitter AI: Access Desktop App on All Plans (Including Free)

I believe in giving a ton of value before I ever ask you for money. I have no doubt that a subset of folks who use Glitter AI would want access to all features (e.g. blurring sensitive info) and would gladly opt to pay for them. That's enough for me!

That's why I'm offering everyone, including the free tier of Glitter AI, the desktop app, for free.

With the Glitter AI desktop app, you can record any process, whether it's in your browser or a desktop application, without any restrictions.

And the transcription feature that allows you to talk out loud while recording works on desktop as well!

This means you don't have to worry about upgrading just to capture outside of your browser.

And not only that, the desktop app can switch seamlessly between desktop apps and browser-based apps, so if you have a multi-application workflow (e.g. moving between Excel - a desktop based application, and QuickBooks Online - a web-based app), Glitter AI will be able to create detailed steps for you including labels, something Scribe was unable to do when I tested it.

4. Affordability

Glitter AI is 31% CheaperPrice shouldn't be a barrier - which is why I made Glitter AI so affordable
Start for Free

As a founder, I know that every dollar counts, and you need tools that offer real value without hidden fees or surprises.

❌ With Scribe: Higher Costs and Potentially Confusing Pricing

Scribe's pricing can be a bit puzzling. While they advertise lower starting prices, you can end up paying a lot more.

Example: last I checked their pricing page, they claimed you can subscribe for $12 / user / month. That sounds great! But wait, it's only available if you pay for five users so that totals out to $60 / month, and only if you pay yearly so:

You're actually invoiced $720 - not $12.

I'm not going to criticize their business strategy. I myself know from my first startup what it's like to be under investor pressure to grow revenue. It is what it is.

What I will say, however, is that my personal preference is to be clearer upfront about what someone is going to pay, and avoid surprises.

Just an FYI, they do in fact offer a monthly plan for a single user - but you're going to pay $29 per seat per month, not $12.

✅ With Glitter AI: 31% Cheaper with Transparent Pricing

As I mentioned earlier, I prefer being upfront, and avoid sticker shock at checkout.

Glitter AI's pricing is straightforward: are you just one person? Pay $20 a month. Want to pay for the whole year ahead of time? I'll sweeten the deal: it comes out to $16 a month instead.

On the individual plan, Glitter AI is 31% cheaper than Scribe, because I want to make it easy on you to use all features of the platform.

Now, if you come to me and tell me, "Hey listen, I got a team, do you have bulk discounts?" - then the answer is yes, and it's directly on the pricing page.

Oh and by the way, if you ever need to cancel: it's a single click to downgrade to the free plan and keep your guides. No BS lock-ins: I hate that stuff whenever I run into it online (and so does the FTC, finally).

5. Direct Access to the Founder (me!)

Hi, I'm Yuval - the CEOI made Glitter AI, and I'd love to hear from you - it's me in the video you see here! :)
Create a Guide

Having a personal connection with the people behind the tools you use can make a huge difference. At Glitter AI, it means a single click to talk to me – not a bot.

I'm not joking, and I'll prove it to you:

❌ With Scribe: Standard Support Channels

Scribe users typically interact through standard support channels (e.g. Email). While they may offer assistance, it's less likely you'll have direct communication with the founders or direct influence over the product's direction.

I absolutely do not fault them for this. Scribe is a big company with a bunch of venture capital funding, and their game is a numbers game.

They've got revenue to grow and investors to appease. Makes sense.

This is common at larger companies, but it also often means you're just a number. This can make the experience feel less personal and might slow down how quickly your questions, concerns, or feature suggestions are implemented, if at all.

✅ With Glitter AI: Personal Support and Open Communication

I hope you figured this out by now, but I'm a pretty direct person and I like to keep my communication this way: direct and personal.

When you choose Glitter AI, you're not just another user. You're a human being, and at that, one whose opinions matter to me. Your take on Glitter AI helps me as the founder to set the product strategy and direction.

That's why I make it super duper easy to contact me directly. If you take a minute to message me through the Intercom chat box or by , I promise to personally get back to you.

In fact, I worked out a way that allows me to organize all your feedback with AI so I can devote time to actually getting back personally.

In short, you have direct access to me, the founder. If you have questions, need support, or have ideas for new features, I'm excited to hear it and speak with you. Literally just (try it, I dare you 😇).
